George Marshall Letter
Marshall, George. (1904-2000). Economist, conservationist; with his brother Bob and their guide Herb Clark was one of the first A forty-sixers,@ climbing all the Adirondack peaks over 4,000 feet in height, inspiring others to do the same. TLS, 1 p., December 18, 1954. To Harmon Lockrow of Lockrow's Book Store in Albany, NY, ordering a book. Marshall replies to some remarks from Lockrow's letter, indicating that he was the same George Marshall that Lockrow had known years earlier when he worked for John Skinner, an earlier Albany bookseller. Lockrow's pencil note indicating the fulfillment of the order in the upper right corner. 6.25" x 7". Clean and in near fine condition, with a nice signature of an important figure in 20th century Adirondack history
